The Xerox 2400 is a series of prints on glass made from scans of a 1964 coloring book that promoted the first duplicator of Xerox. The book tells the story of a company purchasing a Xerox 2400, which speeds up work and reduces costs compared to older copying methods.
The scans of the drawings are uploaded to an online ‘AI-powered automatic colorization’ tool to color them according to the assigned colors from the book. Then, the images are UV-printed on glass plates, mounted on multiplex boards, and hung on the wall like static tablets.
The concept for the project came from the thought of letting a Machine Learning tool perform a child’s task.
